Simon L Gibbs
Life was a little different in the early 80’s up by the Murry River in Northern Victoria where Simon was born. A quiet country town and as the first child, it is well known that they are the experiments of the family.
That is not to say that Simon had a bad home life, quite the opposite. With a stable home, two younger siblings and never without the basics that life required, Simon faced other challenges.
Now as a father, and husband himself, Simon gets to relive those same challenges, but from a different perspective.
The Early Years
As it turns out, having a mind that wants to push the boundaries and see what is possible also has some negative side effects when you are growing up.
Needless to say that the bullying, beatings and misery of life before 20 was not a great deal of fun for Simon. What no one knew at the time though was that those harsh experiences would hold him in good stead to be able to weather the storm of early entreupenurship.
The Early Days of Business
Coming from a hard working but relatively low income upbringing, Simon had picked up many practical skills along the way. These would turn out to be some of the core traits that allowed him to dream up and then execute the businesses that he has today.
Another lesson was soon to be learned. One of the most fundamental to his business career, and that was the realization that hard work was never going to be enough.
Family & Business
If you think that it’s difficult running a business, trying to do it with young children is difficult on steroids. Anyone who has attempted this knows just what this is like. Although not always done right, Simon managed to juggle life, family and business for the better part of a decade before it all came crashing down. Simon even stopped working in his business for almost a year.
There were just too many stresses and everything seemed to be falling apart. This again was a blessing in disguise because it was the beginning of Simon’s business coaching journey. Not as the teacher, but as the student.
Business Coaching
This was the breakthrough!
Just like his electrical apprenticeship, SImon finally understood that if he was going to have a successful business, he needed to be trained.
His first paid business coach was the late Kerwin Rae. This was the eye opener that Simon needed to see what was possible. From there, Simon’s personal and business career’s took off!
Being trained by some of the worlds best coaches has allowed Simon to grow from a small local business that barely kept the lights on, to now running multiple businesses in multiple countries.
